Children's Programs

Tredyffrin Public Library

Tredyffrin Children’s Library is moving up this summer and the Reading Club is going into Storage.

It is not feasible for Tredyffrin Library to hold a summer reading program due to continued construction throughout the summer.

In July, the Children’s Department will move to temporary quarters on the upper level while the lower level and entry parking lot is renovated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our young readers and welcome you to join the Paoli Library Summer Reading Club. Please contact Elektra Greer at 610.296.7996 if you are interested.

Easttown Library and Information Center, Phoenixville Public Library, and Radnor Memorial Library also have active summer reading programs. To accommodate the needs of area teenagers and children looking for best sellers and books on summer reading lists, the Tredyffrin librarians have transferred a collection of books to Easttown Library and Information Center, 720 First Avenue, Berwyn.

Storytime at Tredyffrin is always fun with songs, books and

games for children of various ages. Last month, the toddlers

above enjoyed early-learning activities, led by Tredyffrin Children's

staff member Carla Vastine.

Look for Pennsylvania's One Book, Up, Down and Around at Tredyffrin storytimes as well as nursery school and daycare visits.

Up, Down, and Around, a beautiful picture book for ages 3 to 6, written by Pennsylvania author Katherine Ayres and illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott, has been named the 2008 selection of the third annual Pennsylvania One Book, Every Young Child early literacy program.

The book is billed as a “rollicking celebration of things that grow,” featuring children learning about a garden teeming with life, producing a variety of edible plants, such as corn that grows up, onions that grow down, and tomato vines that twine all around.

Visit www.paonebook.org for more lots of One Book, Every Young Child information, resources and activities.

As construction continues, programs and access to the Children's Department may be reduced, but you can still connect to many of its resources and activities through the Internet.

Look to NoveList K-8 for great and popular children's literature. You can search for award winners (lists and lists of them!), find a picture book by subject, supplement your teaching curriculum, find a book by Lexile Reading Level, and much more.

NoveList K-8 is a resource provided to you by the Chester County Library System. You will need your library card number to access it from your personal computer. To use NoveList: go to ccls.org, choose Power Library, enter your library card number, in Children's Resources box select NoveList K-8.
